What does SalZH mean?

SalZH is an acronym, which literally translated stands for “School Alternative Zurich.” With the addition of an “l”, the German word Salz is formed—a reference to Christians’ role as the salt of the world. Since 2002, the SalZH School has worked to be salt to the young people, families, and communities of Winterthur, Switzerland, located 20 minutes outside of Zurich. Meeting in some five locations around the city of Winterthur, the school boasts a substantial day care program, as well as the obligatory grades K-9 of the Swiss education system. At approximately 260 students, it is one of the largest private Christian schools in Switzerland. In a secular society and a secular educational landscape dominated by high-quality public schools, SalZH is a novelty.
